Two Moms. (Not married.) (Actually, married. Just not to each other.) Four kids. Two husbands. 6 dogs. Minimally, 2 glasses of wine. Lots of laughs.

Our Editor's Take

#IMOMSOHARD is a podcast about the pitfalls of parenting. The hosts are Kristin and Jen, who record the show in Los Angeles, California.

Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley are both from Nebraska and have been best friends for a long time. Back in 2017, the two comedians created a web series. The series aimed to talk about the less glamorous parts of being a mom. In the first episode, Jen forgot her seven-month-old daughter's name. They continued to make embarrassing revelations over the course of the show. The web series led to the #IMOMSOHARD podcast. The show features Kristin and Jen doing what they do best: oversharing.

Every mom remembers hearing these words: "They grow up so fast. Enjoy every moment!" Kristin and Jen tell podcast listeners to scrap that advice, grab the Chardonnay, and hide in the bathroom. #IMOMSOHARD reminds parents that mistakes happen and that it's okay to laugh when they do. They have hilarious conversations where nothing is off-limits.

In the #IMOMSOHARD podcast, husbands and children are frequent subjects of conversation. But so are jury duty, birthdays, and whether wearing slides in public is okay. Kristin and Jen aren't afraid to talk about parenting moments that aren't Instagrammable. They talk about their frustrations with their children's less-endearing habits. They chat about the “joys” of hormonal changes in themselves and their kids. They share details about their children's rashes. They mourn the loss of their pelvic floors. Listening to episodes feels like eavesdropping on a conversation at the school pickup line. It's chaotic, relatable, and hilarious.

#IMOMSOHARD is so popular that Kristin and Jen have taken the show on tour. They've started their own line of wines, including, self-deprecatingly, a "super-buttery Chardonnay." They've also written books. The podcast is fun for anyone who also wants to hide from their kids, as the hosts joke about. Episodes come out every Tuesday and last about one hour.
